KC Hopps Creates New Guest Experiences with Paytronix Order & Delivery

Paytronix technology transforms 88-year-old Stroud’s into a new takeout concept

 
Transforming and Engaging at the Same Time

As a collection of full-service and catering brands in Kansas and Missouri, KC Hopps takes great pride in its guest experience. When the pandemic shut down dining rooms nationwide, the group was forced to make several adjustments. It acted quickly by launching online ordering and delivery through a custom app that integrated with the existing loyalty program. 

KC Hopps took advantage of Paytronix’s full suite of Order & Delivery capabilities, implementing features like curbside pickup, third-party delivery integration with DoorDash, and online ordering via the custom KC Hopps mobile app. These efforts not only kept the business growing but also improved the guest experience along the way.

“Within a month and a half, we had Paytronix Order & Delivery up and running company-wide,” said Bethany Neal, VP of Sales, Marketing & Technology. “The Paytronix Order & Delivery team was great with the integration. It’s a user-friendly product and it gave us something exciting to talk to our guests about in a really hard year for our industry.”

Longtime guests were encouraged to return through win-back and “we miss you” campaigns. Neal tracked customer engagement through the FEEDbackSM tool within the Paytronix app. Surveys were sent after each order, and the comments have been overwhelmingly positive. One person stated that “the online ordering was simple and easy … nice to have a picture of the food too.” Another gushed that “the KC Hopps app is great … very easy to order and apply rewards!” Others complimented the staff’s handling of curbside delivery, using words like “sweet,” “friendly,” “caring,” and “professional.”  

Beyond simply adding online ordering, the technology spawned a new brand called Stroud's Express. An offshoot of the original Stroud's, a Kansas City institution since 1933, the Express locations offer the traditional Stroud’s favorites but for curbside, carryout, and delivery only. Since opening in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, in late 2020, the new concept has really taken off, with approximately 70% of orders generated online. The success of that location led KC Hopps to open a second Stroud's Express in Mission, Kansas, in May 2021.
