Mr. Gaskins’ primary responsibility is to direct all marketing, merchandising and procurement efforts for the Yesway brand, as well as to develop relationships with Yesway’s supplier vendors.  He leads the efforts to establish a marketing and merchandising playbook to improve the organizations go to market strategic plan.  He also helps to further cultivate the growth and stewardship of the fast growing Yesway brand with a keen focus on ensuring the organizations social, mobile, and loyalty initiatives are best in class.

Prior to joining Yesway, Mr. Gaskins most recently served as Chief Customer Officer for Rutter’s convenience stores & Dairy business.  He was instrumental in developing their award winning customer engagement programs and positioned the brand as one of the best in the retail industry.  Before Rutter’s, Mr. Gaskins was Senior Vice President of Marketing and Merchandising with Mid-Atlantic Convenience Stores (MACS) and led the development of the Circle K brand.  Prior to MACS he served as Vice President of Marketing with NACS- The Association for Convenience and Fuel Retailing and positioned the organization for unprecedented digital and global growth.  His other prior experiences include leading the brand marketing for Giant Eagle where he led the development of the GetGo chain of convenience stores, and launched the Fuelperks fuel rewards loyalty program.

His other prior experiences include a number of major companies including Nabisco Foods, Goldman Sachs, and Procter & Gamble.  He is an experienced brand developer, chief marketer, merchant, and innovator that has launched numerous packaged goods, CRM and retail brands and store formats. 

Mr. Gaskins holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Iowa and an MBA in Finance, Marketing, and Real Estate from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Adam Halberg brings more than 15 years of unparalleled experience to his role as CEO of Barcelona Wine Bar. He helms the continued success and coming growth of a restaurant group that has become known for thinking and acting unconventionally-- with a relentless obsession for the guest experience.

Halberg has developed award-winning menus for Barteca Restaurant Group’s two concepts, Barcelona Wine Bar & Restaurant and bartaco, as well as overseeing a strong team of creative and collaborative chefs. 

After obtaining his degrees from both Emory University and the Culinary School at the Art Institute of Atlanta, Halberg worked at some of Atlanta’s most respected restaurants, such as Justin Ward’s Harvest and La Grotta Ristorante in Buckhead, followed by a year cooking in Florence and Modena, Italy.

Upon returning to the United States, Halberg traveled to Maine, working under James Beard Award winner Melissa Kelly at her seaside Italian restaurant, Primo, where he developed his growing passion for American ingredients and Mediterranean sensibility. He then ventured off to Boston for the next seven years, consulting for popular restaurant/caterer Bakers’ Best and ran the kitchen for Michael Schlow’s Via Matta. With Halberg’s exceptional culinary prowess the restaurant was recognized as ‘Best Italian Restaurant’ by Boston Magazine in 2005 and 2006. Before leaving Boston, Halberg oversaw the opening of the bohemian eatery and live music venue, The Beehive, before joining Barteca Restaurant Group in 2008.

He has spent the last nine years developing and teaching the core culture and values of Barcelona Wine Bar to generations of managers, chefs, servers and cooks – and has advised most of the directors and executives in the organization as they moved into their leadership roles.

Ray Wiley grew up on the West Coast and cut his teeth in the restaurant business during the early years of Pizza Hut when his father owned, and then subsequently sold, several stores.   Food was in his blood at that point and he became store manager for concepts such as Pepperoni Express, Domino’s, and Skyline. Supervision of 10 Skyline Chili stores in Columbus Ohio ended up bringing Ray to Dayton in 1989.  Ray purchased his first Subway that year and was named Regional Franchisee of the year in 2002, owning as many 15 stores. 

In 2007, after studying the Mexican restaurant sector, Ray came up with the idea for Hot Head Burritos in 2007.  The focus of Hot Head Burritos has always been fresh food full of customizable flavor.  Ray and his partners own 14 of the 70+ Hot Head stores.   Hot Head Burritos was named to Fast Casual’s Top 100 Movers and Shaker’s list in 2012 at number 36, 2018 at number 57, and in 2019 at number 61.  Hot Head was recognized in Dayton Business Journal’s Top 100 Companies in 2018 at number 67, in 2019 at 57, number 58 in 2020.

In September of 2015, the first store of his next creation, Rapid Fired Pizza, opened and currently has 30+ stores.  Ray and his partners own 11 of the 30+ Rapid Fired Pizza stores. Rapid Fired Pizza was the first restaurant in Ohio to add the I-Pour-It self serve alcohol system.  The self pour system is now in 3 Rapid Fired Pizzas and 1 Hot Head Burritos.  Rapid Fired Pizza was named to Fast Casual’s Top 100 Movers and Shaker’s list in 2020 at number 63. Restaurant Business ranked Rapid Fired Pizza as number 17 in their Future 50 in 2019.  Rapid Fired Pizza was recognized in Dayton Business Journals Top 100 in 2019 at number 88 and in 2020 at 83.

How will I access the virtual sessions?

After registering, you will receive an email with instructions on how to access each session. We will be using GoToWebinar and Zoom to deliver the content for this event. 

Will the sessions be recorded so that I can access them later?

Yes, we will be recording the sessions and may share them with the speaker’s permission. 

Will PXUX always be virtual from now on? 

No, we will get back to hosting incredible in-person events as soon as we possibly can. We miss all of you!
