The Challenge

A fast-casual restaurant group faced a common challenge: low traffic on Mondays.

The Program

The group asked Paytronix to implement a double-points promotion on Mondays to increase guest visits.

The Results

The double-points offer resulted in a 39% lift in Monday dining visits and impacted revenue even more.

The Average American Diner

What does the Average American Diner look like?

We enjoyed a recent article that was published by Time Magazine named, “Goodbye to the Average American Eater” and think you will too.

In “Goodbye to the Average American Eater,” author Josh Ozersky responds to the Nations Restaurant News article, “The Changing American Diner” and says that there is no longer a large group of consumers we can consider to be the “average American diner,” but, one thing the American diner still has in common is an “open desire for more stimulation.”

In the article, Ozersky compares the current state of consumer dining preferences to the shift in TV viewing that took place in the 1960’s, when TV networks realized they were not able to attract a universal audience to the same programming they had been accustomed to offering. In order to emphasize his point, he presents a perspective from Peter Francese of advertising agency, Olgilvy & Mather, who believes, “In terms of marketing, there is no average American.”

The Paytronix article, “Shift from Mass Media to 1-to-1 Marketing” suggests a few marketing action items to help you take full advantage of your loyalty program in this new era of “no average American.”

Tell-A-Friend Feature:
Word of Mouth is Your Best Friend

Ask your already-loyal guests to do some marketing for you.  With Paytronix’s Tell-A-Friend feature, your guests can invite their friends and family to join your loyalty program. It’s a win-win for you and your guests. You offer a bounty to your registered guests, such as bonus points or a free menu item, in exchange; your guests will help you build your loyalty database.

It’s easy. When your guests log in to their account online, they’ll click on the “Tell-A-Friend” link and add their friend’s email addresses along with a personalized message. Paytronix will deploy the emails and then add a reward to your guest’s account when their friends join your program.

Offer an incentive for friend referrals all the time or just during special promotional periods – it’s up to you.
